Creator Project goes to Burning Man 09

Picture
As the theme of Burning Man 09 was evolution, the art installation that I took to the Nowhere Festival Spain in July was originally meant for the Playa in Nevada. Although both festivals are similar in the fact that both their environments are barren desert, I was amazed at how very different they are too with their own unique lighting and contrast.
Both locations were perfect landscapes for my installation though.

Installation project 2009 - Creator

Picture
The art installation focuses on the striking image of Charles Darwin in his later years, as he struggles with his faith and beliefs. To some he is viewed as an iconic creator within The Evolution Theory, to others he a creator of intense controversy. In contrast to the way he is scrutinized from opposing viewpoints, the installation only evolves into a complete image from one perspective. This video was taken at Nowhere 09 and is part of the Burning Man 09 Evolution Theme.

The frame for the installation 2008

Here is an image of the marquee frame I used, I'm placing the frame over re-bar and securing it with guy ropes

The 1st stage of the illusion

This design is to illustrate the illusion only. The final design will be a dark traditional family room with a television as the focal point as shown. This juxtaposition will produce a surreal contrast against the panoramic desert landscape... errr... not shown

The 2nd stage of the illusion

Optical illusion as shown.  The perspective is reversed when viewed from the front.

A painted netting will be placed on the frame, with slats cut for wind ventilation. Tested at home in 80 mile an hour winds.

The aluminium frame, is bolted togetherand slotted onto re-bar

Guy ropes, attached to re-bar with led lights and plastic bottles on top.

The final setting - at Burning Man

As it appeared on the Playa 2008. The final design is a dark traditional family room with a television as the focal point as shown. This juxtaposition produces a surreal contrast against the panoramic desert landscape.

A great website and art project. WDYDWYDO.com (Why do you do what you do?), it has images of people from all over the globe holding up a message with their reason why the do what they do. It's nice to be part of the project.
